EMBODIED ACTION TO PROGRESS A PRACTICE

Past the Struggle One-to-One Yoga for Progressing a Yoga Practice

#TheStruggleIsReal until it is not. Plateaus present themselves in every worthwhile endeavor; the practice of yoga is no exception. Engage a sound progression of study in a one-to-one environment to short circuit or surmount current or chronic challenges in your yoga practice physically, mentally and spiritually.

SESSION ONE: EARTH.

It has been said that if you want to change your life, you must build an awareness and relationship between your feet and your brain. To do so, we tap into a study of symmetrical and asymmetrical standing poses. This process tends to rewire practice thwarting habitual patterns and disconnection of these ‘old familiar’ postures that are actually intended to teach more advancing shapes, backbends and arm balances. The effect of this session is a mind bending and often mind blowing new interest in the standing strength and stability space between feet and mind.

SESSION TWO: WATER.

Strength is a core-centric skill. True strength is as flexible in form as waters ability to move between fluid, form, and steam. This integrative study of the deepest layer of the core will unzip the secrets of how and why some yoga practitioners seem to float from here to there, from the ground to the sky. It’s not magic, its mastery of the fluid attention and engagement one must pass between the brain, the deep core muscles and the peripheral reaches of the body.

SESSION THREE: FIRE.

Backbends should not hurt. Backbends get to progress in depth AND distance. This session demystifies many previously held beliefs and smacks down previously felt limitations in backbends. It is particularly in this study session, that you begin understand progressive practice and how each private session before this one has conspired to build your embodiment in this one. From an easy to comprehend study of axial spinal flexion, your habitual movement patterns, and movement potential movement pattern shifts many of your previous struggles and backbend limitations might just melt away!

SESSION FOUR: AIR.

Balancing poses impact, teach and serve all others poses. Learn how this occurs and why it is important. The mind-body connection is undeniable and easy to believe; however, explore the subtle teachings of standing balances and note what they have been unlocking for you and you wobble and catch yourself breezing in the clouds over your mat! If you feel like you have balance poses nailed, further engage postures that MAKE you wobble again, in order to constantly up level this critical and proprioceptive family of asana.

SESSION FIVE: SPACE.

Fact, meditation and pranayama inspire lasting positive change in those who practice consistently. Fact two, meditation and pranayama are intimidating practices for those for whom ‘clearing the mind’ and ‘holding the breath’ does not come easily!! This session debunks the myths and instills sound and simple practices to inspire and enliven a meditation and pranayama practice for years to come. Learn: a comfortable meditative posture, ways into a meditative state, six primary pranayamas / breathing practices, ways to forgive mental wanderings and return to a meditative state, methods of time management to show up to and keep your ‘meditation dates with yourself.’
